History

The history of Antarctica is the history of the last great explorers of our planet.

This continent, the last one to be discovered by men and for years only reachable by a few adventurers, courageous men willing to challenge the last unknown end of the world.

“Men wanted for hazardous journey. Small wages. Bitter cold. Long months of complete darkness. Constant danger. Safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in case of success”.

This is how history says Ernest Shackleton, one of the greatest Antarctic explorers of all times recruited the men for one of his polar odysseys.

In this section you will be able to find the history of the human conquest of Antacrtica through the achievements of the polar pioneers and the main events of the past 100 years.
